McLaren 675LT set for Geneva unveil

The purest, most involving series-production McLaren supercar to date, the new 675LT will make its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2015.

The new 675LT will be the purest, most raw series-production McLaren supercar to date, and complete the newly announced McLaren Super Series alongside the 650S and Asia-only 625C. Fittingly, the 675LT will revive the legendary ‘Longtail’ name given to one of the purest GT sports cars of all time, the McLaren F1 GTR ‘Longtail’. The 675LT will embody the ‘Longtail’ ethos with its focus on performance-optimised aerodynamics, increased downforce and reduced weight.

The iconic ‘Longtail’ made its debut during the 1997 motorsport season, and with it the highly successful McLaren F1 GTR evolved into its most efficient, race-focused version to date. Using Formula 1 knowledge and experience, McLaren moved the benchmark on further and developed the F1 GTR – which had won on its Le Mans debut in 1995 – into the purest version of a true world-beater – an approach that is still at the heart of McLaren today. The distinctive stretched silhouette of the ultimate McLaren F1 GTR gave rise to the ‘Longtail’ nickname.

Now, McLaren will apply that same philosophy to create the most performance-focused model in the McLaren Super Series, with a key focus on weight saving and driver engagement. The 675LT will be launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2015.
